Apple WWDC23: The biggest announcements from the event so far

The new Mac Studio is designed for professionals and offers a wide range of connectivity options. It now includes higher-bandwidth HDMI, supporting up to 8K resolution and 240Hz frame rates. Compared to a similar PC laptop, Apple says that the MacBook Air has twice the resolution and is 25 percent brighter, enhancing the overall display experience. It measures only 11.5mm, which makes it the thinnest 15-inch laptop in the world, and is also lightweight, weighing just 3.3 pounds, making it highly portable.
When picking up their badges, developers were gifted limited-edition Apple swag including a WWDC23 tote bag, thermos enamel pins, and a hat. As shown off by Quentin Zervaas on Mastodon, the set of enamel pins includes custom designs for the Apple logo, the “face holding back tears” emoji, an iPhone 3G, the Finder app icon, the Apple Park spaceship, and more. Alongside this, the Notes app will now support PDFs directly within the app with full-size, fully-annotatable PDFs that can be shared and collaborated on in real-time.
They can choose a photo from their library, opt for a dynamic set of photos that change throughout the day, or select a Live Photo for a captivating slow-motion effect when waking the iPad. While recent reports indicate that the device may not be ready yet, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman still believes that we will be seeing this AR/VR headset during WWDC. So the company may announce it, its OS, and the relevant development tools during the conference, while pushing its sale to a later date. The new iOS17 promises users “major updates to communications apps, easier sharing with AirDrop, more intelligent text input, and new experiences with Journal and StandBy” according to Apple. The device will be capable of toggling between virtual reality, or VR, and augmented reality (AR), which projects digital imagery while users can still see objects in the real world.
Outside of work, you will find her traveling and exploring new places, volunteering for NGOs, rescuing animals, and mostly spending time around them. Along with the final 45 minutes totally dedicated to the company’s first headset, the Apple Vision Pro, we also got our first look at iOS 17, iPadOS 17, watchOS 10, macOS Sonoma, tvOS 17, new Macs, and more. At WWDC 2023, Apple is expected to launch iOS 17, macOS 14, watchOS 10, tvOS, and their new AR/VR headset. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman expects the keynote to be “one of Apple’s longest ever and easily exceed two hours.” In a huge step for accessibility, the new Live Voicemail feature translates incoming voicemail messages into a real-time transcription as the message comes through.
To launch the Worldwide Developers Conference each year, Apple holds a keynote event to introduce new software and occasionally, new hardware. We are expecting iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS 14, tvOS 17, and watchOS 10, plus rumors suggest Apple will use the event to unveil the long-rumored AR/VR headset. In its latest privacy and security update, Apple users will be able to control and safeguard their data. There are major updates and features including Safari Private Browsing, Communication Safety, Lockdown Mode, Sensitive Content Warning, Photos privacy permission, app privacy improvements, Passwords and Passkeys updates, and more. Here are the 10 major products and feature updates announced or previewed at this year’s event.
Apple previews the OS versions to come later in the year and seeds the first betas to developers on the same day. So during the main keynote of WWDC23, we will likely see sneak peeks of iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS 14, watchOS 10, in addition to other Apple operating systems, such as tvOS 17 and the HomePod’s audioOS 17. WatchOS 10 is available as a developer beta today and will be available as a free software update in September 2023. Apple Vision Pro is an augmented reality headset with straps and an external battery pack that can capture photos and videos, show movies, and more. It’s a fully 3D interface with no controllers, and it features stunning control of apps in the space around you, even casting shadows on the real world.
Introducing Apple Vision Pro the result of years of work and R&D from the Cupertino company (5,000 patents!) and the first truly new product from Apple in years — and perhaps its most ambitious venture to date. As per usual, Apple has unveiled the next iteration of its major software platforms. That means iOS 17, iPadOS 17, macOS 14, watchOS 10, and the next version of tvOS. The keynote began at 10 am PT and just wrapped up; WWDC 2023 events will be running all week until June 9.
However, the success of the headset is not guaranteed as past attempts by tech companies to popularize headsets have struggled to gain mass acceptance, and the market remains relatively niche. We are not expecting other new features beyond the chip refresh, but the M2 Max and M2 Ultra Mac Studio machines will replace the current M1 Max and M1 Ultra Mac Studio options that were introduced last year. Apple will introduce new MacBooks at WWDC, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. Gurman says that Apple is working on a larger 15-inch MacBook Air, an updated 13-inch MacBook Air, and a new 13-inch MacBook Pro. The 15-inch MacBook Air is one of the machines that’s going to be announced during the event. Hardware is never a sure thing at WWDC, and there are years where Apple focuses entirely on software.
WWDC takes place from June 5 to June 9, with a special in-person event on the opening day. IOS 17 Third-party browsers, powerful customization, and bug fixes are top items. After years of speculation, the tech giant’s CEO Tim Cook hailed the arrival of the sleek goggles – dubbed “Vision Pro” – that Apple’s late co-founder Steve Jobs helped design.
The interface is designed to feel tangible, with elements that react to light, create shadows, and accurately represent size and distance. MacRumors attracts a broad audience of both consumers and professionals interested in the latest technologies and products. We also boast an active community focused on purchasing decisions and technical aspects of the iPhone, iPod, iPad, and Mac platforms. At WWDC, Apple unveiled iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS 13 Ventura, tvOS 16, and watchOS 9, along with a new M2 MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro. We aren’t getting notable updates to the Apple Watch hardware this year, but changes are coming in watchOS 10. This could be one of the bigger watchOS updates that we’ve had in recent years, with Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman describing it as “fairly extensive.” This computer is designed for professionals and offers extensive customization options through PCI. With the power equivalent to 7 Afterburner cards, it delivers exceptional performance for demanding tasks. It’s a powerful machine designed for creative professionals, developers, and anyone else seeking exceptional performance in a work environment. Apple expands its popular MacBook Air lineup with a 15-inch model, giving us the option for a larger display without having to turn to the MacBook Pro range. The new 15-inch MacBook Air retains the design that characterizes the lineup and that we have already seen in other models.
It promises to pack a punch while taking up a tiny amount of desk real estate, at just 7.7 inches (19.7cm) on either side and 3.7 inches tall (9.5 cm). That’s the same width and depth as the M2 Mac Mini, but around three times the height. Bringing together two M2 Max dies, the M2 Ultra is said to deliver 20% faster CPU performance and 30% faster graphics processing unit (GPU) performance than its predecessor the M1 Ultra. The headset also makes use of a biometric system called Optic ID, which scans a user’s iris to unlock the device and is encrypted in the same way as iOS Face ID. Apple Vision Pro revolutionizes visual surroundings by offering a fully immersive interface that can be controlled effortlessly using the user’s eyes, hands, and voice. Once they put on the Vision Pro, they will be able to see their environment and all its visual elements, while the Home View hovers in front of them.
